Short CV:

Dr. Ing. Michele Folgheraiter received the degrees of MSc in Information Engineering with major in Industrial Automation Systems and the PhD in Information Technology from Politecnico di Milano University (Italy), in 2000 and 2004 respectively. His research interests focus on the areas of humanoid robotics, haptic interfaces, bio-inspired control systems and artificial limbs. He is author of more than 60 scientific publications in international peer-reviewed journals and conferences.
He is regularly reviewing papers for international Journals, e.g. Journal of Humanoid Robotics, Mechatronics (Elsevier), Integrated Computer-Aided Engineering Journal, IEEE Biomedical Engineering Journal, and international Conferences, e.g. ICRA, IROS, ICINCO, ROMAN, ROBOCUP. He was invited as session chair for the ROBIO (IEEE), ICICNO, and BIODEVICES Conferences respectively in 2006, 2014, 2010 and 2011. In 2002, he was awarded a scholarship for an international research program and spent three months at the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory in Portland State University, Oregon, USA. In 2003 he became a member of the Italian Engineering Association. From 2002 to 2007 he held the positions as researcher and teaching assistant in Robotics1 and Robotics 2 classes at Politecnico di Milano. From 2004 to 2006 he held the position as a Contract Professor for the ’Informatica B’ class and participated in a EU funded project within FP6 (ION-Project) as a expert in neural networks and data mining. Between 2000 and 2007 he supervised more than 30 M.S. and B.S thesis and guided different robotics projects at the Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Laboratory (AIRLAB) in Politecnico di Milano. From 2007 to 2013 he held the position as senior researcher at the DFKI Bremen Robotics Innovation Center.
Since the end of 2013 he joined the department of Robotics in Nazarbayev University as associate professor.
